Our Approach

Listening

The key principle in our practice is listening,

including a comprehensive history and careful

medical and structural exam during the initial consult.

Inherent Health

Our bodies are replete with deep wisdom. This practice prioritizes therapies that work to support, free, or stimulate the inherent powers of maintenance, repair and adaptation that ALREADY exist.

Recovery From Illness & Chronic Pain

Injury with chronic pain and dysfunction is a complex subject.  All humans take a beating in one way or another during life, whether from traumatic one-time events, or repetitive wear and tear.  These processes always involve both spirit and body. And in addition to the direct trauma on bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves, we must consider many other factors to properly assist in healing.  Organ health, mineral deficiencies, overload of toxic elements, shock and dissociation, bad habits, dysfunctional postural patterns, hormone deficiency, psychoemotional imbalances, etc can and do routinely impact the capacity of the organism to heal and adapt.  Often one or more of these aspects turns out to be the key to recovery.   For this reason we routinely recommend case-specific nutrient supplements, and provide structural evaluation and treatment, when we consider regenerative injection therapies.  We also consider mental and spiritual outlook.  This is necessary to optimize results.

Nutrition and the Mineral Basis for Health

I am aware of no area of study more controversial than human diet.  It seems that every opinion and its

opposite has been put forward by intelligent people.  Nevertheless valid principles do exist.  Unfortunately our public health agencies seem to have a singular capacity to make devastatingly bad recommendations, which confuses the conversation greatly.  It sometimes takes many decades for the public narrative to recover some semblance of intelligence.  This is in fact happening as we speak in numerous areas with consideration of diet and right use of "vitamin" and mineral replacement and therapy.  I owe a debt of gratitude to Morley Robbins and the RCP, and to colleagues such as Dr Robert Thompson, people who have been willing to be the "voice crying in the wilderness".  In our Science Section, we will be building a library of research articles backing up our general dietary recommendations.  We will also be posting essays on each of these topics summarizing our interpretation of the literature and our experience.  In particular please note the real dangers of supplementing things like vitamin D, calcium, and iron.

Chronic Illness

Chronic illness is the bug-a-boo of modern society.  Rampant unmanaged stress, compounded toxicity from legions of man-made chemicals that are impossible to avoid and near impossible to track, chronic infections of all kinds, deficiencies of basic nutrients that are depleted in our food chain, cumulative physiologic injury from the countless overprescribed pharmaceuticals, the intentional irritation of the immune system by over aggressive vaccinations programs, all conspire to degrade the competency of health.  The epidemic of autoimmune diseases, on the rise, poorly understood, and lacking in effective treatment speaks to this perfect storm.

One common factor clearly involved in all this chronic disease is our mitochondria, and the electron transport chain (ECT), where the biochemical energy to manifest all aspects of physical life has its source. The chemistry involved in this powerhouse of life is in fact UTTERLY dependent for its function on minerals such as copper, magnesium and iron, and the intricate electrochemical reactions are highly susceptible to various poisons and toxins that short circuit the mechanism and disable physiology.  Interestingly, many toxins (and some pharmaceutical medications) have known detrimental effects on the efficiency of the ETC.

Add to this the fact the America, despite all bravado to the contrary, has the worst health care system of all developed nations, while spending double what anyone else does on it!  Hmmm... where does all that extra money go? And for what is it spent??

How we can help

The resilience of our health is profound in weathering all these insults, but still often breaks down.  We have seen in our practice numerous examples of a profound collapse in health.  We have built the therapies outlined on this site in part based on our experience discovering what helps our patients. It has been amazing to see how much it varies case by case as far as what is beneficial. See our Therapies section for details.
